Down the river

2 weeks ago we headed downriver for a vist.  I love the scenery from Lacrosse to Pririe Du Chein Wisconsin.  The bluffs are awesome, and highway 35 hugs the shoreline.  During the whole drive the river was covered with ducks.  Unfortunatly we couldn't stop to glass them but I did see Scaups, mallards, Canadian Geese, Golden Eye, red heads and white Pelicans.  The robins are back to the snow line which starts about the Iowa/MN border.  They should be here next week!!!!
By my memory...  poor at best, Ice usually goes out on metro lakes around April 5th.  Last year it was out by now, this long cold never ending winter may keep the ice intact later than that. I haven't seen any other migrants yet but they'll start showing up soon.  After all the cardinals are singing in the morning so can spring be far behind?
